Spousal maintenance is when one party in the relationship provides ongoing financial support for their former spouse. It can be paid periodically or as a lump sum. Spousal maintenance is not part of paying child support for children of the relationship.
Where child support is assessed by the CSA (child support agency) spousal maintenance is agreed between the parties or a result of an application being approved by the courts. If you feel you should be recieving spousal maintenance, or that the current arrangement isnt acceptable our family lawyers can help.
